You need JavaScript enabled to view it Website Link Located along the Appalachian Flyway in east-central Pennsylvania, scenic Hawk Mountain Sanctuary offers visitors an outstanding, year-round nature experience with its mountaintop vistas, 8 miles of hiking trails, and the thrilling migration of nearly 20,000 hawks, eagles and falcons each Autumn. Hawk Mountain is part of the Kittatinny Ridge or Blue Mountain, the prominent, southeastern most Appalachian ridge in the Ridge-and-Valley Province. The Sanctuary's 2,600-acres, along with more than 13,000 acres of private and public lands, make up one of the largest, protected tracts of contiguous forest in southeastern Pennsylvania. Autumn Hawk watch: August 15th thru December 15th: Daily, 9 am to 5 pm at the North Lookout.Autumn Raptor Migration is the time to visit Hawk Mountain! Watch the weather and plan your day visit when the winds blow from the North or Northwest, which sets up the best opportunity for the record numbers,species variety and really good looks! Hike to the North Lookout and hang out with the counters for a truly inspiring immersion experience in bird watching and citizen science!
